My Story

My story is a fun one. It’s filled with the classic twists and turns of every professional athlete’s career. It is built from countless years of hard work and persistence, laughter and tears, love and support.

My journey began at a small public golf course called Broadwater Park in Guildford, England. My brothers had rugby training at a club next to the course and, instead of being cold and miserable watching on the sidelines, Mum and I decided to head next-door and hit some balls. We were hooked. Everyone’s heard of the golf bug, and everyone who has played the game has had it. We were no exception. From there, it was two years of cold English golf before my Dad’s job relocated us to slightly warmer climates: Singapore.

Singapore is where my passion for the game truly developed. My long time coach Craig McLean inspired me to want to be a professional golfer and taught me that it takes serious hard work and persistence in order to make it. The values that he instilled in me in my teenage years are what have allowed me to pursue my dreams as an adult.

Growing up in Singapore gave me the opportunity to play my amateur career all over the world. I played events in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, China, Singapore, the U.S and the UK. Having this wide range of experiences helped to develop my game and keep me well rounded as a golfer. I had to learn to hit all sorts of different shots from different grasses, in different climates and on different styles of courses.

From Singapore, I decided to pursue college golf at The University of Washington, Seattle. Going to UW was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I fell in love with the city, made lifelong friends in my teammates and got better as a golfer every year I was there. For me, those years in college were crucial for my development as a person and a golfer and although in 2019, at 26, I was a pretty old LPGA rookie, I know I wouldn’t have made it there at all if it hadn’t been for the experience I gained at University. In 2016, my senior year was capped by winning The National Championship with my team, probably one of the proudest moments of my career to date.

In my last years as an amateur I was also honored to represent England in two European Team Championships, and Great Britain and Ireland four times at two Curtis Cups, a Vagliano Trophy and an Astor Trophy. Being able to represent my country at the highest level in Amateur golf was a dream come true, and it is definitely one of my goals in the professional game as well.

After college I gained my Symetra Tour card through Qualifying school and played two years there before graduating to the LPGA in 2018. The day I earned my LPGA tour card was a very special one. Mum was caddying for me, Dad was there watching. With all of the love and never-ending support they have given me from the beginning, to be able to achieve a lifelong dream of mine in front of them was an incredible moment.

As I write this, I have just finished my second year on the LPGA Tour. My career highlights on the LPGA so far include a second place finish in my debut event, The Victorian Women’s Open, and a 6th place finish in the Founder’s Cup in Phoenix, Arizona. I may not be a rookie anymore, but playing on the LPGA is a massive learning curve and every week I try to soak in as much information and experience as I can in order to prepare myself for the next event. I am still finding my feet, but am loving every second of it and feeling more comfortable every week. Counting down the days to Year Three!
